Posted August 31, 2017. There has been discussion here on the 690's limited range and the various plumbed in auxiliary tanks. Because of the always there aspect and high cost they don't seem to be a good option for me. A recent ride had me almost running out of fuel however, a 3 gallon fill. I sweated it a bit.
The 690 is a fantastic engine but I hated the transmission and lack of steering when in the nasty stuff. Also adding fuel range is very expensive compared to 500. I’ve ridden Baja on my 950SE, 690 and four times on 500’s where we camp off the bikes and ride 1200+ miles.

It runs awesome! I was told after you install it, let it idle for 15 minutes and the ECU will relearn any needed fuel adjustments. According to FMF instructions, zero fuel adjustments are needed. A buddy of mine has an 08 KTM 690 with an FMF Q4 and a UNI filter and hasn't needed to remap at all either.His runs great. Best mod ever for this bike.
